After months of blood, sweat and tears, GSABA recognizes SurveySA as Associate of the month in Builder's Brief magazine. Our goodie bags are also showcased by many builders at the GSABA annual fishing tournament.

 
AIASA, Gordon Hartman Homes and GSABA host their annual golf tournaments and we are there to lend a helping hand. It is also SurveySA's biannual company Steak (Stake) Out.

 
We initiate our first annual Surveying Industry Essay Contest for high school and college students. Also this month, Keith is asked to be the featured speaker at the Boy Scouts of America: Venturing Crew 828 to discuss surveying as a career.

 
It's that time of year again for our Annual Original Birdhouse Campaign benefiting SAMMinsitries (flyer; pictures and results coming soon). We are supporting SAMMinstries with their Furniture for a Cause program (flyer).

 
Lots to celebrate this month... Birthday number two, Texas Surveyor's Week, and the Lewis & Clark bicentennial. To celebrate all of these milestones, check out the following activities: The Welcome Mat, Essay Contest, Keith's interview with SABJ and Chrissie Murnin's radio show on KONO - FM 101; KKYX - AM 680; Y100 - FM 100.3; and KELX - FM 106.7, plus we attended the 2004 AIASA Beaux Arts Ball in style.

 
Lots of GSABA involvement this month, including: The introduction of a new column that we created for the Builder's Brief entitled "The Welcome Mat"; We sponsor a corporate table at the Housing Forecast, our guests: Broker/Agent Magazine, DHR, Financial Freedom, V&W Builders, and Wells Fargo; and we also sponsor a booth at the Pre-Rodeo Chili Cook-off, our theme is the Royal Chili Court. Christmas Picture It's that time of year again for our annual staff photo for holiday cards. (View photo: high res, or low res.) And this year we enjoy a Feliz Navidad at La Fogata.

A special gift this holiday season is the arrival of Teko Hlapho, a recipient of the Scholarships for South Africa program who will be living with Keith and his wife Nancy while attending SAC in the spring and UTSA in the fall.

 
Our 2nd Annual "Thanks-for-Giving" program exceeds last year's numbers with 157 paid donations. For every survey that was ordered during the month, a portion of the total cost was donated to a charity of choice, in the ordering company's name.

Charities that received donations this year include: The Children's Shelter, Family Praise Church, Family Services Association, Hospice, Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. P.J.'s Children's Home and our industry's favorite charity, Habitat for Humanity.

 
SurveySA is a major sponsor at the 2nd Annual SA to SA (San Antonio to South Africa) Humanities Festival produced by PrimaDonna Productions. This event is a fundraiser for the Long Distance Book-Mobile which ships books and educational materials to 70 schools and 4 township libraries in South Africa and for Scholarships for South Africa which provides higher level educational opportunities for South Africans who qualify.

We're in the SLAMMER!!!! SurveySA is locking up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help fight against Muscular Dystrophy in children. SurveySA, Dave & Busters, and MDA are joining together in the fight against MD! Read more. See results.

Keith and his wife, Nancy Parker, have been shipping books to a small school on a farm outside of Clocolan, South Africa, since Parker's sister visited the school in 1994. As a result of their efforts, Teko Stephen Hlapho became the school's first student to qualify for college - or tertiary school, as it is referred to in South Africa. Teko will be meeting his San Antonio mentors for the first time when he flies into the San Antonio International Airport, courtesy of SurveySA. Read More.

SurveySA birthday. On the 21st, we celebrate birthday number one; in commemoration, personalized chocolates are made and distributed to all. High res. Low res. And in celebration of Surveyor's Week in Texas, SA Construction News profiles both the history and contributions of surveying, as well as our hard-working staff. Read more. The party continues as we attend and provide a great silent auction item to the AIA Beaux Arts Ball, which raises funds to provide scholarships and educational resources to area architecture students.

 
Our dynamic field crew joins forces with the City of San Antonio (Department of Planning Historic Preservation and Design Division) to help with their 3-year photo surveying project of the original 36 square miles of San Antonio.

To celebrate our first Thanksgiving, for every survey ordered during the month, we donate a portion to a specific charity in the name of a client. The results are phenomenal - a total of 148 individual donations are made to local charities including The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, The Children's Shelter of San Antonio, Hospice, and Habitat for Humanities. We donate a Hunter's Survival Kit to the G.S.A.B.A.'s Skeet Shoot/Dove Hunt. We also donated an entertainment door prize to the N.A.P.M.W.'s Bottle Auction and VIP night.

 
Our first challenge - The flood!! Being the strong team that we are, we manage to somehow stay afloat.
