Venture Crews Pace Towards the Future
Venturing Crew 828 in San Antonio wants it known that they are a crew and not a troop. They are indeed a co-ed group comprising 16- to 18-year-olds who are affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, but want take it one step further by learning and exploring more about surviving the outdoors.
To better prepare for an orienteering (a sport involving navigation with a map and a compass) competition, they enlisted the help of SurveySA. Keith Jimenez—RPLS and President of SurveySA—and a previous orienteering champ himself, gladly accepted the assignment and put the crew to the test. In addition to the mock pacing challenges, Jimenez taught the crew about higher education opportunities and the multiple careers that are available in the surveying industry.

SurveySA is pleased to announce the promotion of two of its exemplary employees: Susan Banks, who returns to the firm as the new Office Manager, and Fred Salinas, who is named Vice-President.
Banks was previously employed from 2003 to early 2004 at SurveySA, and returns from a position in Administration and Human Resources at Foley’s Department Stores. The entire staff is all very excited to have her back as a central, guiding member of the team. By the sounds of the phones ringing off the wall to welcome her back, it is evident that clients and vendors couldn’t agree more.
Promoted from Manager of the Drafting Department to Vice-President of the firm is Fred Salinas. Salinas, who has had an exciting 25 years in the surveying industry, has enjoyed his mentorship and working relationship with Keith Jimenez. “I have learned more in the past 4 years, than in all my years of surveying here and in Europe. Keith’s attention to detail and quality of work consistently keeps me on my toes.” Fred promises to continue the traditions that have been implemented, as well as utilize his own background in architecture, engineering, surveying, and more to teach the staff how to complete challenging surveys. “Fred brings a wonderful bag of tools to work with that helps us raise the bar here at SurveySA and to the industry overall, so he was an obvious choice for my right-hand man,” added Jimenez.
